Introduction :

Active filters have manny advantages over Passive Filters which are following.

» Low Cost :

As a variety of cheaper OP-AMPs are easily available and the absence of inductor active filters,The active filters are more economical than passive filters.

» Small Components :

The component used in active filters are smaller in size as compare to passive fillers.

» Gain & Frequency adjustment Flexibility :

In active filters as an OP-AMP can provide a gain,the input signal is not attenuated and active filters are easy to tune so easy frequency adjustment is possible.

» Passband Gain :

It can be design to provide some passband gain .

» No loading Problem :

As OP-AMP has a high input resistance and low output resistance, active filters using OP-AMP do not load the input source (Load).

» No insertion loss :

It do not exhibit any insertion loss.

» Interstage isolation and control of impedance :

It also allow for interstage isolation control of input and output impedence.
